マニュスクリプトのトランスクリプション

土曜日です。宿題をやる日です。まずは、マニュスクリプトのtranscriptionから。
transcriptionは、日本語だとなんと言うのでしょう？普通の英和辞書を引くと「書写」とか「転写」とか訳されていますが、ちゃんとした技術用語があるのでしょうか。

＜transcriptionをするときの心構え＞
目的
原本のテキストの正確な記録を作成すること。ただし、ファクシミリとは異なり、現代の読者の理解を助ける記録である。

原則
・標準化(normalize)をしてはいけない。（原本の誤字脱字、特殊な表記法もそのまま書写する。）
・句点法は、原本に則る。（ただし、今回の宿題では、現在の句点法に置き換え、脚注で補足する。）
・改行箇所は原本に則る。（slash(/)で置換可だが、中世後期のvirgula suspenisivaと混乱する場合があるので改行が好ましい。）
・大文字、小文字の使い分けは原本に則る。
・u/vの使い分けは原本に則る。（ただし、今回の宿題では、現在の用法に置き換える。）
・文字は、現在のアルファベットを使用する。
・単語と単語の間のスペースも現在の用法に置き換える。
・短縮形は、短縮されていない形に戻す。ただし、補った文字を明示する。
・改ページ、改コラムの箇所は、folio#、column letterを[]で明示する。
・原本に挿入、訂正、削除が加えられている場合は、Leidenシステム、Scriptoriumシステム、Brownシステムのいずれかの方法に則り、これらを記録する。

さて、これに沿ってとりあえずやってみます。

Information Quality in Wikipedia: Summary of Research by Stvilia

B. Stvilia らによるinformation quality についての論文　'Information Quality Work Organization in Wikipedia' Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 59:6 (2008), 983-1001. における問題意識と方法。

Questions:
(1) How Wikipedia community understand quality?, What are the quality criteria?, What is the quality problem structure?
(2) What are some of the IQ assurance processes
present, including tasks, roles, social arrangements, and strategies used?
(3) How did these quality assurance processes and this understanding of quality evolve?
(4) What are the quality dynamics of different types of information objects,
and can they be modeled?
(5) What are some of the motivations
that make people contribute?
(6) What are some of the IQ intervention strategies used, and in what circumstances?

Methodoligy
(1) case study, based on the data are from English Wikipedia site(Mar.2005-Sep.2007), to get an overview of Wikipedia work patterns and dynamics
(2) manual examination of the process logs and discussion, policy, and user pages, to get a in-depth sight of the formal and informal (active) components of IQ assurance work

'One man's wit, All men's wisdom'

Collective Knowledge についてのエッセイを書いているときに、OUPのサイトで見つけました。
Little Oxford Dictionary of Proverbs という本の宣伝に使われている表現です。

オリジナルは、
'A proverb is one man's wit and all men's wisdom' というLord John Russellの言葉だそうです。

'knowledge'という言葉の、やや上滑りな、人の存在からかけ離れた抽象的な意味合いが、なんとなく好きになれなかったのですが（言葉としては、長い歴史とそれなりに深い意味を持つようですが）、今日knowledgeで表現されているフレーズを、'wit'や'wisdom'に置き換えてみると、、、少しだけ明るく有機的な未来が見えてきそうです。

DEN: Digital Heritage Netherlands

Europeana など、美術館、図書館、文書館等の連携（MLA連携）が進むヨーロッパですが、連携を広げていくためには、国内、EU内における技術標準(デジタル化品質、メタデータスキーマ等）の共有が不可欠です。

オランダにおいては、技術標準についての調査及び提言、機関間調整は、
Digitaal Erfgoed Nederland (DEN) (英語名： Digital Heritage Netherlands）が行っています。
Europeanaとの関係においても、技術面においてはDENがオランダを代表しているようです。

【2017年8月26日追記】Europeanaのパートナー機関として、参加国・機関全体に及ぶ標準化や調査報告の作成も行なっています。ENUMERATEプロジェクトの推進役の一つでもあります。

中世の句読点法

授業からメモ：
中世の句点法は、マニュスクリプトによって、またその背景によってまちまちなので、
一般化できない。したがって、「そのマニュスクリプトにおいて、その背景において、どういうルールで使われているか」という視点で見ていく必要がある、とのことです。

また

・文法を理解するための句点か
ということも、長々と議論されてきたとのことです。

まだ勉強が足りないので、絞込み検索がなかなかうまくいかないのですが、とりあえず役に立ってくれそうです。

EU の電子図書館関連プロジェクト（枠組）

EUが関与する電子図書館関係のプロジェクトは、いろいろありすぎて分かりづらいので、整理を試みます。できるかな。

1. EUの研究（者）支援のフレームワークをFramework Programme　(FP)という。1998-2001に企画されたものをFP5、2002-2006のものをFP6、2007-2013のものをFP7（核関係のみ2007-2011）。
2. FP7のICT(Information & Communication Technologies)の分野における方針は2005年に策定されたi2010 という文書に示されている。これには、世界的な"Digital Convergence"の進行を背景として、EUとしてはSingle European Information Space、Innovation and Investment in ICT Reseach、Inclusive European Information Societyを達成しましょう、ということが、書かれている。最後のInclusive・・・というのは、ICTの発展による利益を市民に還元しよう、ということのよう。（"Digital Convergence" という語は、定義されずに多用されている。）
3. 最新のFPであるFP7は、７つの「チャレンジ」を掲げる。そのうちの一つがChallenge4：Digital Libraries and Content
4. このChallenge4がさらに次の３つの研究エリアに細分化されている。Digital Libraries and digital preservation、Technology-enhanced learning、Intelligent information management
5. 電子図書館に最も関連が深いのはDigital Libraries and digital preservation の下で展開されている36のプロジェクト（内25はFP6からの継続なので2009年中の終了予定）。
6. ただし、他の2分野のプロジェクトにも興味深いものがある。たとえばAPOSDLEはTechnology-enhanced learningの枠で支援されるプロジェクト。Intelligent information managementは、ニューメディアやセマンティックウェブについてのプロジェクトを含む。
7. 以上の研究支援の枠組（FP）とは別に、EU自体の取組みとして、Europeanaの構築が進められている（根拠文書⇒i2010: Digital Libraries（2005年策定））。

したがって、基本的にはDigital Lirbraries and digital preservation の下の36プロジェクトとEuropeanaをウォッチすれば、EUが関与する電子図書館関連プロジェクトの動向が分かるはず。

Warp Speed

Warp Speed: America in the Age of Mixed Media Culture (by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel, 1999)の中で論じられていること。

• 'A culture of allegation and assertion at the expense of an older culture of verification' (by David Halberstam)
• 'The Rise of Anonymous Sourcing'
• 'There Are No Gatekeepers Here'
• 'The Argument Culture'

Culture of verification の根拠として、1920年のLippmannの以下の言説を引用。
"Public as well as private reason depends on [the importance of having an accurate, reliable account of "events"]. Not what somebody says, not what somebody wishes were true, but what is so, constitutes the touchstone of sanity."

Roger Chartier

Roger Chartier の以下の本が読みたいです。
